Protestors against the new crime bill that outlaws protests have majorly kicked off against police.

Vans set on fire, police station windows smashed, fireworks thrown at officers, officers suffering broken bones.

I don’t really care tbh. But even if I detested it, I wouldn’t resort to violence and criminal damage to protest against it.

I wonder if it'll turn into French style rioting with police going in with water cannons and rubber bullets soon intead of a few flimsy shields. It's quite a mess, both the banning of protesting and some of the recent protects

With peaceful protests becoming potentially illegal, I guess there's not much to distinguish between that and protesting non-peacefully, really.

Standing there shouting = peaceful protest
Assaulting officers, burning vans, smashing windows = non peaceful protest

A lot of the problems with these protests is that the genuine protestors are actually peaceful, but there’s a group who see every protest as an opportunity for violence.

I would have thought the free-speech types in this thread would be criticising the fascist bill that went through parliament? I guess it was all projection.
