Hello everyone,

I sold my ageing (but still great) pc last year and I'm itching to buy a new one now. I built my last one and I very much want to build my next one, but I am a bit out of loop these days on hardware. Therefore I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction as to what will be the best way to spend my money?

I ideally want it to be able to play 4k games for a bit of eye candy, doesn't have to be a million fps but just enough to enjoy some epic adventure, racing, war games.
Ideally I'd like it to cost £1000, I don't need monitor, mouse, keyboard, Windows.

One more thing, I want to buy it in stages so it feels like less of a huge outlay. Therefore, I assume it will be better to buy the stuff that won't be out of date so quickly first? In this respect, I assume I should buy the graphics card last?

It doesn't need an i7, an i5 with room for a little bit of room for an overclockers would be good. I don't think I'll need too epic a cpu cooler.. 8gb of ram should suffice.

Thanks in advance for any pointers :)

Edit: I move house a lot, I like small (as possible!), stylish and understated cases.

I should also add; just an ssd will do initially, I will buy a hard drive further down the road.

I might be able to stretch the budget a little bit if 4k is out of the question for a grand. I really don't think I'll need a massively hefty processor though, the most strenuous use it will be getting other than games is casual photoshopping.

Any problems with this spec?

Intel core i5 4460
Msi z971 1150
2x4gb corsair ddr3 2133mhz 1.5v
Arctic freezer i30 hestsink
120gb crucial bx100
Msi gtx980 ti twin frozr 5
Evga supernova 750w modular psu
Corsair 250d case

Comes in a little over budget (£100 or so) but it looks good to me. Is there any compatability issues or am I overlooking any better options? I don't plan on going sli.

The cooler wont fit in that case Max CPU Cooler Height 61 mm and max gpu length is 266mm 10.5", how long is the msi 980ti ?

OK that's good to know thanks. I might get one of those noctua low profile ones then. The 980ti is exactly 10.5 inches long, not a mm to spare. It should be interesting fitting that...
