I have recently encountered an issue with my pc turning off at random points. I noticed that the heatsink was slightly unseated, so after having no joy getting it to fit securely I bought a new HSF and tried that.
No joy. I took the pc apart blew the years of dust out and still the same issue. I think either the motherboard is shorting or the PSU is. It could be the case switch I suppose but when it turns off I just get the same noise I get when the machine shuts down, which is the power down of the PSU.
It is at completely random times, sometimes before the bios screen appears, sometimes during boot and sometimes when it boots into windows.
To the question!
I have the following (took a while to find it in my previous orders) and am wondering what is out there that I could buy to replace the motherboard, PSU and case. Or whether I need to start again from scratch. If that's the case, is anything salvageable? I don't play games any more so the GFX would still be ok?
Your thoughts / help will be very much appreciated.
