So after 2 years the 360 has finally decided to give up. Received PGR4 through the post today and managed 2 races before it started throwing up some graphical corruption. Switched it off, then on again and I get the sound but no picture problem.

Which is great as it means its not even covered by warranty. Hopefully I will be able to get it to 3 red light.

Manufacturing date is 6/11/05. Another annoying thing is I also received Transformers and Blades of Glory (on HD-DVD) from LoveFilm today as well so I won't be able to watch them either.

Good times.

PS Also tried it with my VGA cable on a different monitor but still the same problem.

No offence, Tom, but do we REALLY need a new thread every time a 360 goes ****-up?
I'm pretty tolerant but even i'm getting f'ed off with seeing them! :D

Yeah sorry about making a new thread but I couldn't find anything about the problem I'm having in the 360/console stickies so wondered if anyone else on the forum had the same problem before.

Also I believed Blades of Glory was meant to be good? Ah well not going to be able to watch it now anyway.

Mine gave up ghost with same problem a week or so ago (graphic corruption and eventually can't get any picture on screen).

Are you going to try and get it repaired via Microsoft or is yours still under warranty. I just don't know what to do with it now.

if you send to MS you'll just be joining the what it seems to be the never ending returns procedure, once its been to them they normally go wrong again 3 months later, hence i'm on my 3rd/4th/5th xbox360 posts.

The "my 360 is borked" threads are a little like the "Joey Barton in trouble again!" threads. Happens so often its not worth the effort of actually starting a thread for it. :o

I can't see anything too wrong with you calling them saying it RROD's every now and then and you get graphical corruption most times. It would be a slight stretch of the truth unless you have had an RROD before.

Worst thing that would happen by claiming it was RROD and they found out it wasn't would be that they would charge you for the repair wouldn't it?

Which would be cheaper than replacing it.

Just say it was throwing up 3rod`s when you sent it so something must have happened in post :)

Could always the towel trick :D

If they wont fix it you can pick up a refurbished console for £90 from a popular auction site.

Its what i did as i simply couldnt be bothered with MS anymore.

Just phoned them up and told them I was getting the 3 red light error. Hopefully they will just send me a new one anyway once I have returned mine.

They will probably fumble around with yours then send it back to you, most likely put new thermal paste on it a.k.a new mother board :p

To be honest I've not tried just boxed it up and put it into storage, I bought it about same time you did just after launch.

From what I understand the extended warranty only covers RROD so any other problem and you're fubarred, it's been recommended to me to cover it with a towel and "overheat" it but I'm not going to mess around with it.

Will probably buy another when they are more reliable which I think will be about Aug 2008 when the GPU is re-fabbed.

If you successfully manage to RMA it with Microsoft let me know please.
