okeydokey, 3 days ago i bought this from MM for £30 plus £8 postage and packing

http://www.thermaltake.com/watercooling/cl-w0005-01BigWaterSE/cl-w0005-01.htm

after 3 hours of fitting it its finally in,
stupid things i did:

1, forgot to put 2 nutts onto the pipe before i had ptfe taped it.
2, forgot about the pump utterly, only noticed when i had already fitted all the pipes.
3, forgot to check the air flow of the fan, had to remove it and switch it around.
4, forgot to plug in the VGA power cable

5, no leak testing what so ever.

Temps before:
GPU 58oC
system Temperature 40oC
CPU internal temperature 46oC
CPU external (surface) temperature 41oC

Temps now:
GPU 55oC
system Temperature 34.5oC
CPU internal temperature 36.5oC
CPU external (surface) temperature 32oC

CPU = Opteron 146, 2Ghz clocked to 2.7Ghz

ALL THATS INSIDE AN ANTEC SUPER LANBOY

my verdict on this water cooling kit: not bad at all, can be bought new for £55, instructions arnt the best in the world but i can tell they have tried to make it as straight forward as possible,

7 out of ten for ease of install
8 out of ten for performance
8.5 out of ten for looks

can anyone tell me, does it really matter which way the pump faces? the book shows it on its back with the pipes going up, ive got it upright with the pipes going out...

also i keep seeing the occasional air bubble fly by, as amusing as they are, is it anything i should worry about?

well i got up today and checked and its official... NO LEAKS. :D

i highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to do water cooling on a budget for the first time :) just remember 2 things...

Measure Twice, Cut once...

PTFE tape every connection.

it looks like **** in the pipes but otherwise good work. Altho ive had more in the lanboy...

:D:p

actually, you havent :p

ive got 2 X 5 1/2 inch bay opticle drives and 1 X 5 1/2 inch bay taken by the resevoir, ive also got a floppy drive, my graphics cards bigger than yours and ive got a TV card in there too this on top of the huge radiator and 120mm fan fitted at the back plus my PSU wires are neater :p :D

but your right... it does look like pee in my tubes. will have to get the digital camera out when i get a black light.

Looks really nice setup for such a small outlay. I'm rather tempted to try this myself at some stage. Guess having a side window is pretty essential though.

What are you using to check temps? Not heard of internal cpu temp before (bit of a n00b tbh).

its a program called systool, (google it, its free) and i would recommend water cooling to anyone, with or without a window. :)

they were idle temps

idle temps

recorded Before water cooling
GPU 58oC
system Temperature 40oC
CPU internal temperature 46oC
CPU external (surface) temperature 41oC

After
GPU 55oC
system Temperature 34.5oC
CPU internal temperature 36.5oC
CPU external (surface) temperature 32oC

Full load temps

recorded Before water cooling
GPU 65oC
system Temperature 44oC
CPU internal temperature 52oC
CPU external (surface) temperature 47oC

After (1 hour of battlefield 2)
GPU 60oC
system Temperature 36oC
CPU internal temperature 40oC
CPU external (surface) temperature 38.5oC

I am thinking if its worth upgrading to this...

My current CPU speed etc is... 2.6ghz (not my max but day to day)

Idle = 29C and 42C underload (Freezer 64 (not pro)) @1.39v

I don't know if it would be worth getting @ £55

...Thing I noticed is your watercooling CPU, GFX and Chipset .... If I just watercooled the CPU.. It may knock my temps down a little :)

im only water cooling my cpu :), its the main source of heat in most systems, add water cooling to take care of the cpu and as a result you wont have your cpu dumping all that hot air back into your system which results in a temp decrease across the board.

It gives pretty much the same results as my £10 air cooler lol!.. not worth £55 over my air cooler

Rofl, full load of Prime95 and running 3dMark05 on loop gives my CPU a load of 35C internal and 33C external.
This cooler cost me £15. :D

MC_Bob

your forgetting a couple of things...

1, neither of you have a graphics card that can give of anywhere near as much heat as an X1800XT 512mb crossfire master card.

2, my pc is now silent

3, im in an attick, there are only 2 temperatures in this room, Warm in the winter and cooking in the summer.

4, its all crammed into an extreamly small case, one of the smallest branded tower cases you can buy.

you can buy the latest, bleeding edge hardware. but spending a bit of money and time making your rig look nice always gives a certain wow factor

thats why i recomend your next purchase be....

a digital camera :p

lol, :p i know my pics are bad... looks like ive pee`d in the tubes! when i get the dye and blacklight this week i will put new pics up with the Digi cam...
