It's snowing

Got loads here in Bristol and it's still snowing. Said on the local radio there's no First buses running at the moment and their website is being hammered atm, can't even get it to load properly.

Woot :D

Snow finally arrived in this part of Wiltshire :) Had about 5-6 inches and just started snowing again.

Again it's not just that. They use snow tyres and other things. Which we just don't have in the UK. Why buy an entire set of tires for 2 days a year.

Never used a snow tire in my life. All Season Radials that's all my car ever had fitted.

And I only ever used chains once and that was a requirement to drive a highway up to 100 mile house in Northern BC. They would not let me go up the highway without them fitted.

The point I was trying to make is that the snowfall that Europe sees as a major close things down event is a minor inconvenience to me.

Had about 6 or 7 inches here, buses are running but not up to anywhere near me (i live on a hill, no buses can get up it) And got a text from work saying they are closed so no work today :)

People there just know how to drive on it
I was in America for three weeks in November. Every time it rained there were cars literally every 100 meters crashed in the barriers on the Interstates and highways.

It's not that people know how to drive in the snow, they are just better equipped to do so.

A good few inches now, school/college/uni and work places all closed so everyone at home is sleeping in and there's very very little traffic!

You can't see the dropped curb/grass/drive on any house on the road - wonder how many people will slide into curbs around here today..

Pleasantly surprised with Bristol's snow, not massive amounts but a fair bit and it's still going. My gf and housemate have both managed to get to work. My housemates work said under no circumstances can you not go to work and to get a Taxi. Would have been difficult if there are no taxi's lol. I've got a day off work tho so I'm not bothered either way.

Time to get on with my dissertation.

There is a good 20cm of snow out in my back garden and on the road. I don't think I am going to attempt driving in to work this morning thanks to the fact that the snow is at a higher level than the skirt on my car, and that the buses in Reading are not running. Booooo!

I had to go out into the garden this morning to get the milk and butter thanks to the Fridge/Freezer not working! lol

In Mansfield Notts, we had about 5 to 6 inches of snow yesterday and another 1 or 2 over night :(, im off work sick this week but my sons school is closed so I would have problems getting there anyway.
I had to pop out yesterday in the car and got stuck on a slope and needed the help of 4 lads to get the car going again :)

BBC are reporting parts of Tilehurst is unpassable. I can confirm that, unless I can find a snow plough I'm working from home. :D

We had about 3 inches last night, it looked very pretty coming down lit up by the streetlights. Some of it was gone by this morning. Anyone who can’t get to work locally this morning is skiving.

I can only shudder what the Peppard Road is like again! Glad I moved back to uni few days ago and not today like my mum said!
