Do I panic and put winter/snow wheels on -3 here last night.

That is a good bit of snow- I can see the UK grinding to a halt soon.

Aren't winter tyres pointless in this country? My dad used to do deliveries in several feet of snow in an old toyota corolla and a mini van, never had winter tyres, never got stuck.
A good amount of snow? Really? it's barely a cm..

Besides, it's gonna be back to 10 degrees by Sunday.

Snow tyres aren't only for plowing through feet of snow, they just offer more grip in conditions like this. I had to brake hard from 10mph in a parking lot this morning when a pedestrian ran out - normally the car would stop dead, but I slid about foot forwards. It's a tiny example but paints a picture.
If you're only ever driving on salted, well-used A roads then there isn't much point, but on roads like in my picture above they make a world of difference.

Depends where you live, in rural areas with loads of doddgy B and C roads people do end up stuck or in a ditch. I have seen dozens of them

I am due a delivery today and I bet he never makes it here

I love the snow, Saturdays and Sundays but it creates havoc for us during the week. My drivers cover over 17k miles a night in the 2nd line healthcare sector and delays in what we do can cause suffering and deaths, We cope as best as we can but some areas become cut off and if we cant get in or out of areas the knock on effect is pretty crap

Some parts of Bristol have had it, not really settled. We only get it is a massive weather front. Absolutely a danger to brass monkeys though.
