How many people like me got some Wii stuff but were let down by a retailer and didn't get the Wii on the 8th. It's even worse to look over my room and see my Wii games and other goodies and not having a console to play them on it's tormenting as hell. It's like waving cake in a fat kids face then not letting have any.

Playing around with the Wiimote and Numchuk with out the Wii was fun for a while but I still need the console. What the chuck is happaning to me dam you Nintendo I've been cursed by hype and my hopes dashed at the last min.

I have an addiction to games so this is a lot worse for me than anyone else. Oh yes I may try turn my gamecube on it's side and try and imagin it's a Wii.

Don't lose sleep, it's not all that wonderfull :-/

Haven't bothered switching it on all day, shame because I'm a massive Nintendo fan.

haha, aww!

are you disappointed?

My Wii was stated as dispatched date 12/12 right up until last night when it said dispatching soon and it's been sent today and should be with me early next week, my order has been split up though and it's looking likely I won't get zelda til later, but I'm going to try get WiiPlay tomorrow in town for the extra Wiimote. :)

You don't need a usb wifi thing IF you have a wireless router.

I'm in a similar situation, kinda... bought one and told the missus it's for our son, and not really for me. So when I got back from the supermarket at midnight on Friday morning, she took it off my hands and has said it's remaining hidden until xmas day. She's said there'll be no more hanky-spanky if I open it before xmas. So I've got one, but not allowed to try it out.

You need to plug it in and update the software asap. If you plug it in Xmas morning along with bazillions of other kids it'll probably crash the nintendo servers and kill your console.
As it is for the kid just wait till s/he's in bed and then there is no harm in making sure you know how to plug it all in, updating the software and making sure the games and controllers work properly.
Your kid will be hugely disappointed if he can't update on Xmas day ........ won't you please think of the children.....

It's a nice idea, but we've not got wireless at home, as we've only got one PC, so not gonna be updating it for a while anyway (at least until Ninty release the USB thingy)

Well you still need to ensure it all works if you want to get an exchange in before Xmas.............. I mean what if it was a duff Wii how sad would your kid be then?
It needs Parental Testing Time, particularly whilst within the 7 day returns portion of the distance selling act.....

Surely you can make your wife see the sense of it...

Yeah, now you say it, think it does need doing... will go for the "Parental Testing Time" line, I like that ;)

It is essential to make sure it is all working PLUS you don't want to be farting about on Xmas day with a gutful of Turkey figuring out how it all connects together.
A quick smooth setup on Xmas day will keep the kids happier and ensure a less frantic experience.
I've heard some people took 1 hour to put it all together.

As a senior engineer and a UKAS appointed quality manager for a commerical testing laboratory to International and Military standards I strongly recommend several evenings of testing time between now and Xmas.
A good 20 hours worth I'd say, and get a few spare AA batteries in just in case too :)

Head to 24hr supermarket, buy games, take games back when they come in the post. Sorted.

I could relax if I new when the next batch would be here. Oh well I better head off to bed I've been up since about 4am because I work on a saturday. I hope it's sometime next week as I might be able to wait that long before exploding into little peices. :D

a local comp shop who have cancelled a lot of pre orders, have said they wont be getting ANY till feb at the earliest.

Just a headsup :)
