Hi All,

Need some recomendations for Insurance Companies if you please.

I am currently with Elephant (Paid £1,500 last year, they still want £1,200 this year) i've done an Online quote with Bell and they are coming out at just over £1,000.

I still think there must be someone who can do this cheaper.

21 years Old (Licence for 3 years)
54 Plate Mini Cooper S (Owners Club also)
Good Postal code
1 Years NCB.

You will have my thanks if you can recommend someone cheaper :)

(Also: I have tried Green Light and Flux and both are very expensive :()

Don't comparison sites make this thread pointless?

They appear on a regular basis here - a lot of people dont seem to understand that what's cheap for someone will be expensive for someone else, so coming asking for cheap insurers is a bit pointless.

Comparison sites are a good starting point, but its always just a case of ringing around and doing loads of online quotes

Not really no, a comparison site has yet to give me a better quote than i can get by hitting the phones.

Plus several companys don't list themselves on those sites.

But you need to do the legwork yourself really, we can only list company names.

I got a better online quote for the first time last year. I will concede that phoning will usually give the best results.

They all use a random number generator anyway :D

Which is why i'm here, I don't know any of the non-mainstream companies.

I always start with comparison sites, then get quotes directly fromt he cheapest results -either online or by phone.

At my age with my car I'm pretty much joe average, so mainstream is fine for me!

Might be worth trying Lloyds TSB (underwritten by Churchill) - absolutely decimated the competition for me this year, really happy - oddly. Seem very good so far, in terms of contact and details. Spoke to someone on the phone with a few questions and they answered them all at the drop of a hat and were very helpful.

renewal time for me aswell, had to laugh at the comparison sites, quoted 1100 for admiral, same quote directly with admiral <1000, need to do some ringing round and nag flux, quoting me the grand saving of £30 on my auto renewal, buggers

Thats the choice you make when you buy a hot hatch at a young age - they're statistically a high risk. Could be worse though!

You added parents to the policy as named drivers?

insurance companies are odd.
With elephant, this year : 450.
Renewal come through: 650 (10 month!)
rang up, new renewal :475

comparison site best: 330ish for 10 month - admiral!

Same bloody company! Lol

Very true. I've already said on FB that it's better than the £1,600 they wanted last year.

And yup, both parents are on there and they bring it down a fair bit :)

Thanks anyway all :)

Phone Elephant and get them to match Bell's price, and/or try their site as a new customer and get them to match it. Works with me for Admiral (same company) every year.

Directline - ring them don't do it online.

I'm playing £760, Mazda3 2.0l sport 150bhp group 11/2 iirc, 2 years of named driver. Online everywhere else was wanting £1400+

dunno why they were so cheap but its good for me. but i only got this deal over the phone.

dont' comparision sites hike the price up?
