iTunes 7.6 won't run

Just installed iTunes 7.6 on to my XP install so I can see how it has changed and is it better with my iPod than Winamp's built in iPod plugin.

It installs fine but when I run iTunes using the desktop shortcut nothing visibly happens, iTunes.exe appears in the task list but nothing loads up.

I've tried most of the ideas on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302856 but they don't work. So what is going wrong? I've removed Quicktime Alternative and restarted but still nothing.

I am in exactly the same boat!

If you google there is plenty of threads on this. I have tried so many of them but still no itune.

I now use winamp.

I had this when the GF bought a Nano. Ended up haveing to ( I say having to, Cus the woman wanted to use Itunes!!!) do a format and reinstall never worked out what the problem was.

Cheers guys. Just to make it clear I do use Winamp, just wanted to see what iTunes was like nowadays.

id reinstall itunes/quicktime after uninstalling the quicktime alternative personally

^ I think that was my problem only the QtAlt install botched and was unable to remove it.

iTunes is Evil MmmmKay!!..

The mlipod plugin http://mlipod.sourceforge.net/ is much better than the built-in 9stripped down) winamp plugin!... theres a few more options, including coverflow (Album Art) which never worked for me with the built in plugin but does with mlipod!! :cool:

I worked that out.

Installed iTunes/Quicktime then realised QT might have clashed with QA so off came QA and iTunes/QT back on again with a restart thrown in for good measure. Still nothing.

I used to religiously update the ml iPod plugin but since Winamp came with its own version I've found that suits for me.
