Lo all,

Just got this update and I haven't seen any difference yet. It's supposed to have enabled HD Film rentals but iTunes store still says: "also available in HD via Apple TV". So I'm not impressed.

The version notes also state that it now imports your CD's at the same bitrate as Itunes Plus....

Looks like I'm going to have to re-rip my CD's !

The previous version did as well, all this tweak has done is make the iTunes Plus format the default. I recently re-ripped all my CDs at lossless anyway.

Just downloading this now, i've noticed coverflow being quite slow recently, im guessing speeding it up is the fix you are talking about?

I'm in the process of doing the same as you Feek, going through all my CDs at the moment ripping them to flac, the sound quality is much better.

iTunes Plus is Apple's way of saying Un-DRM'd AAC @ 256kbps.

This option was present before, but it was not the default encoder, as Feek said. Also, if you like audio quality then Lossless is the way to go IMO.

Better, but still not great. If it wasn't for my iPhone I don't think i'd use iTunes at all to be honest.

Am I the only one who thinks instead of patching it needs a major redesign?

On the plus, I think Genius playlists are in fact, Genius.

I'm quite liking iTunes now, it's speedy to launch and I've got a number of smart playlists set up to handle different devices in different ways. It also feeds my AppleTV very nicely.

I've been using it since version 4 I think it was on Windows (and then Mac) and always thought it was the best music player. Saying that I still don't get the point of Grid or Coverflow view - List (with browser!) view all the way :p

I think they need to find a more relevant name than iTunes though - but I suppose the brand is SO entrenched ...
