Noticed earlier today that iTunes 8.1 is available. Lots of little tweaks but it looks as though the most noticable one is speed, there are a lot of reports about saying it's very much faster than before.

Seems alrite so far, found one dumb change though.

Huh? What's dumb about that? It now defaults to a higher quality encoding rather than a lower one.

I'm not disagreeing with the change in the default bitrate setting, just calling it iTunes Plus seems a bit lame.

a lot better for browsing albums in tile view for me!

Whats this itunes dj too? could be interesting :)

EDIT, browsing in coverflow (which i use a lot) when i scroll using 2 fingers on my trackpad it seems to get stuck on some covers, its really annoying!

iTunes DJ is just a revamped party shuffle.

Now you can suggest or rate songs from your iPod Touch / iPhone and they will be added / removed from the playlist. E.g. You can set up a party and friends that have access to remote.app on their iPhones will be able to request a song gets bumped up the playlist if they don't like the current song.

I don't agree with them marketing the 256kbps VBR AAC encoding as a new feature. It's always been available; they just enabled it by default and called it iTunes plus.

I'm still getting used to it starting in less than a second vs the 5+ it used to take :)

The improvements to party shuffle, erm... DJ, are nice. Looking forward to putting it to the test at a real party.
