I have 3 or 4 audio books that work fine, files exist on my Mac but each and every time I seek to add them to my iPhone they will not transfer properly and won't play. Now I can uncheck the box to sync them, download them directly to the iPhone via purchases not on this iPhone, but the other way it won't work.

Ideas anyone?

Yep just chased my backside for two hours with this same issue, the joy of iTunes. Any time I want to do anything with that pile of **** I lose two hours of my life.

You need to go to the file in iTunes, right click, get info, options, media kind change to audiobook and select remember my position. The file will now be able to transfer to your phone and you play it via the books app.

Cheers, I will give it a try. iTunes has been bug riddled pile of manure since the day it arrived and all they seem to do is add complexity and keep crap.

I transferred my sons mp3 files to audiobooks as I stated above. Annoyingly now you can't play them through sonos as that then puts them in the books app and not music, which is linked to sonos.

Why the hell do they have to make it so awkward to just drop an audiobook in and play the damn thing!

I've been faffing all evening with another copy of iTunes on another Mac. It seems to have got better, ish, at dealing with duplicates which is have been a real pain, but still not perfect. It just always seems to have problems.
