I have iTunes installed on my windows vista laptop with around 8Gb worth of albums.

What do i need to do to backup my itunes music so i can use it again on windows xp and i tunes??

i dont want to have to rip all my cd's again and have to find the art work again.

thanks ben :)

Backup both the music files and the iTunes library and then restore once you have downgraded.

Or do what I do and keep your iTunes library and music files on a NAS drive. :)

whats a NAS drive ?
Network attached storage. Pretty much what it says on the tin, but to expand slightly, it's essentially a storage device which, rather than connecting to a single PC via USB/Firewire/IDE/SATA, has an ethernet connection so you can add it to your network, so it can be shared by computers on your network.

My Documents > My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music

Backup the iTunes Music folder, then drag the file on to iTunes (whilst it's open) after you've reinstalled Windows. Then wait.

My Documents > My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music

Backup the iTunes Music folder, then drag the file on to iTunes (whilst it's open) after you've reinstalled Windows. Then wait.

Better yet, take the whole iTunes folder, that way you'll keep your library exactly as-is ;)
