Itunes and IPod Touch problem - Sync Server

Bought an 8GB IPod Touch yesterday. Loaded the 64-bit ITunes on my Win 7 x64 last night, transferred some music, downloaded a few apps, everything worked fine.

However, when I've plugged it in this evening, ITunes takes nearly a minute to load and then I get a message saying:

"Itunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later."

And that's it. IPod isn't recognised and Itunes crashes. I've taken a look on the Apple site, all I could find was this page, but none of this applies to me.

I've removed all ITunes and Quicktime components from the computer as per this page. Also deleted all ITunes folders from my User directory. Have also done a factory reset on the IPod. And I'm still getting the same error message.

I'm going to contact Apple support, but has anyone else come across this and found a solution? I've done a Google and there seem to be quite a few people with this issue, but no one seems to have a solution.

Any help would be appreciated. This is actually my first Apple purchase as I've always refused to have ITunes on my PC, so its rather frustrating that my fears are coming true:p

OK, fixed. I had a CD in my DVD drive which I noticed was spinning up when starting ITunes. Took out the CD and now everything works fine.

Bit strange. First, why does a data CD in the DVD drive stop my IPod from connecting. And also, the CD was in there last night so why wasn't it a problem then?
