Hey guys,

I have just recently realised something. If you are a user of itunes and you have purchased a lot of money's worth of songs from the itunes store as well as having many of your own songs ripped off CD's, these will only play on the computer they were purchased / ripped to. When I come around to building a new rig, how do I go about making it possible to play my itunes music library on my new rig?

Kind Regards

Not a problem. You can authorize up to 5 computers.
When you move it all to the new machine if you try to play a protected track it will ask for your apple id (which you used to purchase the songs). Then you can authorize that computer.

Just moved my itunes library across to a new machine no problem.

Songs ripped from CD: No problem at all, there is no copy-protection applied, just copy them over.

Songs bought from the iTunes music store: Copy them over then authorise your new computer. Important: if you dismantle or destroy the old computer, "deauthorise" that computer in order to avoid using up one of the 5 allowed computers.
