iTunes and Vista

ok, I currnetly have iTunes 7.1.1.5 installed on my Vista Ultimate machine.

I'm trying to use the iTunes store (go knows why) and it says that to now use the iTunes Store I need to upgrade to version 7.2.

7.6 is all downloaded. I try to install it over the top and it says that "the installer encountered errors before itunes could be configuered."

Have you guys got any suggestions at all? I've just updated my machine and tried it again.

I've also uninstalled the current version of itunes and tried a fresh install all with no success!

Have you wiped off everything from the old install including quicktime etc? Might have something still knocking about? Maybe google some sort of cleanup to make sure itunes is totally gone.. I guess last resort could be something like CCleaner to make sure there's nothing in the registry??

Dunno, out of my depth but it sounds like 7.1.1.5 is still in there somewhere.

Other alternative would be to not use the itunes store, there has to be a better alternative??
