I like itunes :( for organising my music, I had an ipod it broke  and not giong to buy another one * they are as durable as an ice cream in the sahara. Is itunes going to be opened up for other MP3 players? if so when ? becuase once you buy music off itunes its protected  .

*I went into an apple resellers in chester looking for a new one, a guy comes in, "i've got 2 ipods here, both broken but with different problems" I walked straight out, because I'm not wasting my money. rant over.

Cheers

I'd say the chances of itunes being opened up are slim to none. As you've found out, all the music you buy through itunes is ipod only, thereby forcing the consumer to upgrade to another ipod when their current one breaks or they lose the music they bought unless they want to burn it and then import it. This all helps drive ipod sales on which apple make much more money than selling music through itunes.

There are ways to strip out the DRM so that iTunes music that you own is yours to use freely. I won't link to anything as it might constitute warez discussion. Have a Google if you're interested.
