Hi Guys

First off id like to announce i bloody hate Itunes with such a massive passion .. I have to use it however because i have an iPhone and need to sync my music with it. I'm getting loads of exclamation marks now and its generally being a pain in the arse (all gone pete tong) how can i remove all songs and start a fresh !! So start again basically .... If anyone can put it into a few simple steps i would appreciate it massively as me and itunes simply do not get on ....

Cheers

A rather stressed Sam :p

Select all right click delete.

If Music exists within the iTunes folder hierarchy you'll be prompted to keep files, do so.

Then go to File > Add to library and select the folder with the music within.

Thanks mate

Whats the best way to get Itunes to download all the art work ? Since you posted ive been deleting around 15 GB of crap music i no longer wanted

Cheers

Out of interest why is it that ...

I point Itunes to My Music folder, it sits there for ages doing various things and creates a new folder called "ITunes" which then seems to be massive wasting precious space on my ssd drive :p

as you don't like itunes, why not ditch it? it's not needed for music at all - only apps and maybe video from the itunes store require it.

winamp and media monkey work well apparently. i say apparently because i don't have an ipod/iphone myself. :p

if you have a search, i'm sure this subject has been covered a fair bit. :)

And as soon as an OS update comes out back to iTunes you'll go. I couldn't be bothered keeping too applications. :p

so keep itunes installed to update the firmware?

you really can't afford another 10-20mb of hard disk space for another media player? not all media players are 100mb behemoths which install loads of craptacular update programs and background services like itunes. :p

Keep iTunes installed, download MediaMonkey and use that for music. When you connect your iPhone to iTunes, uncheck 'Sync Music' so iTunes doesn't touch whatever MediaMonkey syncs to your iPhone. Sometimes an iOS update will make MM incompatible with your iPhone though, however MM is usually updated to address that issue quite quickly.

I prefer one solution rather than faffing with different things for the one device. :p
