Hi Folks,

Having just bought Kerrang for the excellent Iron Maiden covers CD... I am having a bit of a struggle with iTunes sorting it all out.

I don't want loads of artists in my library with only one track (from the CD) is there a way of stopping them all appearing in the library, and ony showing up as part of a compilation?

I've marked them all as 'part of a compilation' under the get info pane... but that doesn't seem to have done much.

Any help guys? :)

if only you could do this on an iPhone... can't believe they missed it out

my artists view is pretty much unusable to to my compilation albums :( - I just tend to use the album view now but its not ideal...

bloody annoying

I just rename the artist to the name on the compilation CD on my iTouch.
fair enough, but i really like to know the artist... plus with an iPod in whichever recent incarnation we are discussing (Touch, Phone) which is easily the market leader, you'd have thought we wouldn't need to do workarounds to get basic usability features... do you not agree?

Yeah i thought of that, but you would have to do each and every file since it doesnt work on the group select... so if you've got anything more than about 10 albums it becomes a massive chore...

I see what you're saying, but they really should have included a "group compilations" option.

There is a compilation tick-box for each track, which unfortunately, would need to be ticked. You can select multiple tracks and edit en-masse though
thats in itunes though boss, we're talking about the iphone...

that box is ticked for all my compilation tracks and it gets acknowledged by my 5th gen ipod for example, but not my iphone...

I've dumped my library of compliation CDs (ok, only had 20-30, but it was annoying nonetheless) for this very reason.
