iTunes Cover Art Folder Where?

Where does iTunes keep all the cover art that I have dragged/added to my music over the years?

I'm just about to swap out my hard drive, and want to make sure that I'm backing up the correct file.

Many thanks, as usual.

The artwork is embedded in the file itself, when you modify the file(s).

If you haven't modified them (i.e. iTunes found the artwork for you) then it can be found in Home > Music > iTunes > Artwork, however it's just a bunch of incomprehensible folders with no coherent names.

So, if I back-up my music collection to an external drive, swap my MacBook internal drive, and re-install my music collection onto the new internal drive, the covers should be there?

I hope you followed that, and sorry for such a rambling question... I didn't know how best to phrase it!

Yes, copy the "iTunes Music" folder from inside the 'Music; iTunes' directorie(s) and you're done.

All the artwork that iTunes got itself will need to be re-downloaded, but all your custom-added ones will remain :)
