iTunes crashes when iPhone plugged in

ARGH

When I plug my wifes iPhone in it crashes iTunes. I have tried a reset cycle on the iPhone without joy. iTunes is updated to the latest version.

Anyone any ideas?

Try turning off 'start iTunes when my iPhone is connected' maybe? Failing that, clean install of iTunes probably I'm afraid.

Done a fresh install of iTunes. No luck. Then after connecting/disconnecting the iPhone about 6 times it worked.

Right I get the same problem, but only If I connect the Iphone while in 'sleep'. Connect it and then press the home button and swipe to unlock. If I do that it connects first time instead of keep reconnecting until it eventually unfreezes.

My iPad crashes iTunes regularly, has done over various iOS and iTunes releases. PC and iPad have both been wiped and the problem has always remained. Sometimes it works, more often that not it takes several attempts.

My iPhone 4 has never had an issue though on the same PC.

I have this problem too, never used to have it. Just seems to hang now when I plug the phone in.

Had the exact same issue but the way i cured it was go edit-preferences-device, there is an option that says "prevent ipods and iphones from syncing automatically" tick this and you should be good to go. I have had only 1 freeze since doing this and even when i had that simply unplugging and plugging back in solved it.
