itunes disc sorting

Re-doing my itunes library and trying to sort each album into discs.
Before hand if it was "disc 1 of 3" it would put togeather all of disc 1 then disc 2 etc
Now it's just listing them all as track numbers, eg 3 of track 1 etc.

I hope that makes some sense

anybody know how resolve this?

is that applying the sort field? Does nothing.
Currently copying over onto ipod so hoping that is fine.
