I've been using WMP11 for a while and basically haven't had a problem with it.

However since getting a ipod touch I'm forced to deal with the lovely iTunes...

I'm encountering a problem where iTunes is displaying every artist in compilation type albums? So take for instance my copy of the Miami Vice soundtrack. When I select to view by albums (via coverflow) iTunes is displaying every song in the album!? Not just one album called 'Miami Vice'

Could someone tell me how to fix this as it is very annoying! I've tried selecting all the songs in the album and setting 'compilation?' but then iTunes seems combine a few into one album slot and some others in another and so on?

I just don't get it!?

"Group compilations when browsing" should sort you out. It's on the first page of preferences.

It may sound obvious, but make sure the album names are spelled the same on all the tracks. "Miami Vice" will be grouped separately from "Miami Vice "

If it remains willful - select all tracks in an album, and then Get Info and apply the tick box - part of a compilation.

..or, tell it that it's not part of a compilation

I find if you edit the album and it's being stubborn (i.e. you tell it that its an album with "xxx" name but it still shows as two albums because of 2 discs) then I like to edit the name by one letter.. let it do it's thing and edit it back and select "not part of a compilation" and it usually behaves itself.

Not the best workaround, but there's always a stubborn album or two.
