I have just imported a 3CD Album into itunes but it has split the disks into separate albums.

I have tried setting the album artist tag the same on all the tracks but it still splits it into 2.

Any ideas?

When I get this kind of problem I go in to the tag editor as you have done and delete a letter off the end of the album, for example "Clubland Classix", then apply. Then I go in to the tag editor again and rename the album to its correct title. This can sometimes sort it. You may have to do the same for the artist field too. :)

Change the album artist field. Only the ones that show up in the tag editor are the ones that appear the same in both. You album artist must be different in each one.

The way I do this is quite straightforward, I shall use pictures to explain because I like pictures.

If it's a 2 CD set then make sure that all the tracks on the CDs have the Disc Number tag set correctly.

It also helps if you have the track numbers correct as well.

Once you've done that and you've got the two separate CDs showing in iTunes, then you set the Album to be the same.

I personally like to have the Album Artist set the same as well but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Once all that's done I only show one album in grid view

And if I look in list mode, I see just one album with the two CDs split in order.

It also helps to have iTunes display as 'Album by Artist'

TuneUp won't combine the two CDs like I've described above.
