I had my ipod connected to my computer with iTunes running when I had a power cut. Now my computer wont start with the ipod plugged into it, it will only start when its unplugged. Everytime I try to load iTunes I get an error message saying "an error has occurred" etc. I have uninstalled it, removed all folders and reinstalled and I still get the same message. Plus Quicktime is not working/not installing (same message). If I dont get iTunes to work I am going to have an ipod that I can put no music on!!! If anyone has any ideas I would be really grateful! Thanks :)

Have you tried uninstalling both iTunes and Quicktime. Something might have happened to the files when the power cut took place.

As for the iPod have you used the iPod software to format the disk? I think you need to do this if you haven't already. As I said with iTunes and Quicktime something may have happened to the disk on your iPod when you had the power cut. Something might be borked on there so formatting the iPod should help.

Do you have access to another PC? Or have a friend/neighbour close by who would be willing to let you plug you iPod into their PC. Your iPod could be completely borked and nothing will fix it. Trying it on another PC will help you find out if the iPod still works. You might want to format the iPod so it is in a fresh state before trying it on a new PC. The reason for doing this is that by formatting the iPod it is in a fresh/ready-to-work state so if it doesn't work on another PC it could be borked. If it does however then it should be OK once you reinstall Quicktime and iTunes.
