So I'm new to Itunes and I'm not really getting it. How do I make it so that my Nano (gen 5) updates to exactly what is in My Music folder? I don't want to be adding/deleting manually and I'm fairly sure I'm missing something obvious. I want my PC to dictate what is added to and deleted from the Nano. Can this be done? Thanks in advance.

I don't use itunes, but surely your My Music folder is bigger than the size of your Nano?

Most people's music folder is going to be too big to fit on their Ipod, so I doubt itunes will have a feature which automatically 'syncs' the whole folder on the PC with the Ipod.

I may be wrong though. I'm sure some itunes users will have some better info for you.

It is. What I want to be able to do is delete or add albums to My Music and Itunes/Ipod follows it. I don't even need Itunes, I just want the Ipod to mimic exactly what is in My Music (GB withstanding). Can I do this?

Thanks anyway, man :)

Could you elaborate? When you install iTunes it asks you if you want it to scan for music files (.AACS, .MP3s, and converts .WMA) to add to the iTunes library. In theory it should have added all your music files to the iTunes library so you can sync it over to your iPod.

iTunes works by using a library database. Any changes to your music files need to be done through iTunes otherwise the database will not be updated to show the changes. EG. If you delete a music file in "My Music" using explorer then the iTunes reference will still be there. You'll need to delete the file within iTunes which will delete the file for you as well if you wish.

EDIT:

Ahh. What you can do is keep all your music in your iTunes library but sync your iPod to a playlist with your selected music on. You can swap and change the music within the playlist without actually deleting the file from your iTunes library and the "My Music" folder :).
