iTunes High Def Playback

I've been considering purchasing Lost season 1 in HD over iTunes. I was also considering plugging my lappy into my HDTV and watching the high def content that way. Is this a good idea picture quality wise? And by the way can anybody comment on iTunes video playback. What's the quality like? Also, is something like Front Row better to watch movies in? If these are noobish questions I apologise.

Front Row (Quicktime) + Perian is quite good

never like the restrictive nature of videos within iTunes to be honest...

What about connecting the Macbook to the HDTV. Would there be any scaling issues to worry about?

naah it'd be fine, i think it would assume its a second monitor and you could set its resolution to be native?
