iTunes > iPhone music transfer frustration

I recently got an iPhone 4 and I'm very pleased with it. However, I'm having problems moving music to it through iTunes. I've added a selection of albums to it which are working fine but when I try to add more, instead of 'sync' the buttons 'Revert' and 'Apply' appear. When I try to apply my additions, I'm asked if I want to remove all my apps!

I'm a recovering Apple hater but iTunes isn't making it easy. Appears to be a convoluted piece of crap to me. Can anyone help me get some music onto my phone? Something I would have achieved on an Andoid device in seconds. I'm sure I'm doing something stupid but it isn't exactly intuitive.

Check the apps tab in iTunes. Are they set to sync? Were they bought with a different iTunes account to the one on your computer?

Do you need all the syncing ********? Just tick the manually manage music and videos and then you can drag and drop your music/playlists.
