So I really don't have much background on this as it just out of the box if you know what I mean. Installed iTunes on my new xp installation, done some tweaking of my new installation, plugged iPod in (it shows in Explorer) but doesn't show in iTunes. In my tweaking period I had disabled some services, is there anything iTunes detection thing depends on? Any help appreciated =D

did u install the software and register the ipod?

did you install the newest version of itunes? theres been numerous updates...

A friend of mine had issues with her iPod (Nano) not being seen by iTunes. No matter what I tried, it wouldn't work. Turns out it was faulty (a known fault according to the shop) and they gave her a replacement there and then.

Ok so I just tested it on my Laptop and it is finding it fine in both Explorer and iTunes, although I just noticed something very odd. When I start iTunes everything is fine but then if I plug in my iPod the server ipodservice.exe goes crazy in task manager and it + services.exe takes up half of my cpu and just stays like that until i either stop it or remove my iPod, anything weird about this?

Edit: the thing about the process is on the computer that isn't finding my iPod

Edit2: OH YEAH WHOS YOUR DADDY! I noticed that on laptop i had ipodservice set to manual, but on this comp i had it on automatic, changed it to manual nad blam, fine, although i did get an ipod corrupt error :S
