Been using Itunes 7.something for ages now so finally decided to upgrade today. It prompts me everytime I start iTunes so just clicked upgrade, popped up with a random error saying it couldn't after it had downloaded the update.

Fine, I'll grab the installer from the website and do it that way, but I get the following error a few times while installing:

At the end it says the software has installed fine but won't run giving the following error:

I've tried fully uninstalling iTunes and am working my way through old installers now but getting the same issue. Tried the 32 bit installer but kicks up a fuss and says I need the 64bit one.

Win Vista x64

Help!

I know this is not in any way helpful, but the problem has nothing to do with iTunes per say, it's more likely to be something 'wrong' with your machine.

Now, more helpfully, you need to try and rid the system of whatever parts of the setup that have screwed up and hope that a totally fresh install goes ok.

I would probably start with CCleaner or something like that, and hope that it clears anything related to the iTunes setup.

I'm taking the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7. Downloaded it from my Uni MSDN for free so just finished backing up and about to install it for the first time!
