I've just reinstalled my main PC to Windows 7 and reinstalled iTunes 9 and restored my library from backup.

I now get this error every so often when using iTunes, anyone know a fix as I'm not having much luck finding one that works.

I've tried most of the supposed solutions out there without much luck, anyone got any other ideas?

Yeah I have Feek but it doesn't make a difference :(

I've had a free afternoon today and did a totally clean install of iTunes and imported my library back across. The error I think is being caused by the iTunes folder in my Music directory of my profile being set to read only, so when iTunes attempts to say update the play count on a track it can't due to the permissions the iTunes folder has.

When I try to take the read only permissions off the folder, windows applies the new permissions but after I close the folder properties and then go back in to the folder properties the permissions are back sitting at read only.

Looks like it's a bug that will be fixed in the next release if Apple haven't added Windows 7 support......fingers crossed they do it soon!

Right click your itunes music folder - properties.

Select the security tab.

Add new profile. In the names box type "Everyone" and hit check names. Hit Ok. Click Everyone profile and check they are all set to allow. Hit Ok and see if the problem persists.

Thanks for the idea gord but it still doesn't want to take the read only permissions off the directory and even with the read-only permissions in place it makes no difference.

Just an update to say the new iTunes 9.02 release has fixed the error I've been having with the library file, all the play counts are being updated for each track now. It looks like Apple have added better Windows 7 support in this release.
