Ive tried this before but failed :(

Is there an easy way of having my itunes library stored on a NAS does anyone do this with any problems?

Ive currently got my library stored on an external hard drives, which i access from my windows box id like to have the library stored on the NAS and if possible be able to be accessed from my MBP and windows machine.

Can anyone tell me how i go about doing this?

Many thanks

I've tried and failed with mine also. I put my music in the right folder, and iTunes can see the share but shows it at empty.

It's probably AFP as above, or that I'm not auto-mounting the shared drive (just connecting to it). But I can't get it set up right. :(

I've had my iTunes library copied to my QNAP NAS for a while and any PC I connect to it can play using iTunes.

I think they are stored in the Multimedia folder of the NAS in an iTunes subfolder or something similar.

My playlists are all there for all to share - Album art doesn't work though but I believe this is a general problem with a shared library.

I dont remember having to do anything special - There's only a couple of things I can think of below:

I think you have to enable the iTunes server from within the QNAP config interface which it may not be on by default but its a while ago so I may have forgtotten.

I don't know if this requires Bonjour to be installed - It probably already is on a Mac but possibly not on a PC.
