Itunes library re-location question

Hi all,

I'm using (I think) the latest version of iTunes on my Windows 7 desktop, with my music stored in D:\Albums

I want to move this, so that it will be on a different drive, but with the same path, i.e. F:\Albums. It'll be a network drive if that makes any difference.

Can I just do a find and replace or whatever, in the iTunes library XML files? I don't really want to have to go through the faff of re-adding all my music to iTunes like I seem to whenever I reformat.

Thanks!

If it helps, a could have weeks back I moved my iTunes library (the whole iTunes folder actually) to an external HDD... then when starting iTunes for the first time from this new source on each computer I just held alt and pointed to the new library file... now all three of my computers just open the same library :)

Maybe this nugget will help you with your move ;) - Basically I reckon if you just move the lot and tell iTunes via the alt switch where the new one is you'll be fine :)

When I want to move it I just change the music location of iTunes then do consolidate library. Changing where the music is stored doesn't remove music at other places.

This is what I recommend.
