iTunes Match question

My old iPod Classic is filled with all my CDs that I ripped years ago. The iTunes library was lost when my laptop went fubar.

If I subscribe to iTunes Match and plug this in, will I be able to redownload all the songs on to my iPad/iPod touch/iPhone or will it just match stuff that's in my existing library?

Obviously I could re rip them but it would be a massive ball ache.

You needed to have setup iTunes Match before you lost your library; Match uses an algorithm to compare your tracks to those on the iTunes store. If it doesn't find a match then it uploads the track so you can download it later if required.

Sounds like kidloco has the best idea for your situation.

If you are using OS X I can recommend Senuti. I used it years ago to transfer my iTunes library when I changed to a Mac and there was no way of transferring the library with data back then. Senuti imported all the tracks, playlist and metadata off the iPod and into iTunes.

Thanks guys.

I just went through the music on there. The selection is not quite as brilliant as I remember!!!

Will definitely try one of the explorers though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Definitely not worth a match subscription.
