am i right and thinking i deautherize my machine in Itunes, then copy the itunes folder from my 'my music' folder to the new machine, install Itunes and away i go?

if you make sure your paths to your music is the same just import the XML file in the itunes library folder.

if the paths are different you can edit the XML in wordpad and do a find and replace to change it.

hope that helps :)

ok thanks mate, i'm not at my home computer right now, but i gather it's stored in 'my music' > 'itunes' ?

when you attempt to play your first song that was purchased from iTunes, it will ask for your iTunes account login details ... it will then allow this PC to play any song you purchased and it will be another computer added to your 5 allowed per year allowance

Grab your "iTunes Music" folder from My Documents > Music > iTunes.

Pop that on an external HD, DVD, etc, and transfer it to the same folder of the new machine.

Load up iTunes and it'll regenerate the Library files (*unless of course you want to keep your playcount/ratings) automatically

*You'll need to copy the Library file across too, as mentioned by neil_g

thanks mate, where is the libary file stored? >prog files>itunes ?

It's in the iTunes folder (the parent directory of "iTunes Music")

unless youve specified a different directory in itunes preferences iirc. just look for the most up to date "iTunes Music Library.xml" and "iTunes Library" file.
