This is really doing my nut in! Has anyone succeeded in moving their library to a secondary drive and keeping play counts etc?

I have the library stored on my SSD (C:\)
I have the content (Music) stored on my 1TB drive (F:/)

This setup runs fine. However, I want my library to be stored in the same directory as My Music so on the F:/

Unfortunately with iTunes it's not a case of changing the directory and moving the iTunes to my desired location as it clears all the play count etc.

Does anyone have a successful method of doing this, or a guide? Guides I've found on the net haven't been useful.

On Windows 7 BTW.

Cheers

I'm thinking it'd be a case of moving the xml file and then pointing the registry to the new location... But I'm not sure, I'd need to check when I get home.

Backup the library XML files and worst case "Find and replace all" the paths in them. Probably the most old school but safest too.

You can change the location in settings then under file > organise check the relevant boxes and it will copy them over.
But you should also be able to set the location in settings, copy the folder over and then select the library file when launching and it should update the library. This is dependant on your library all ready being consolidated to one location.

Close itunes. Move the 'itunes' folder from your c drive to the location you want on your F drive.

Open itunes but while you open it hold down shift, this will give you the option to select a different library, select the library you just copied to your f drive and it will open it as it was before.
