Itunes & New Computer

Ok i'm hoping i havent lost all my music but basically i've got a new computer and i thought all id have to do is authorise the new one and it would download all the songs on my account but it seems to say i have everything which can be downloaded which is nothing.

Next i thought if i plug in my iphone which has all the songs, it might take them from there but still no joy.

By not taking the music from my old computer have i lost my entire library?

Do you still have your old library? If not then your music is lost. However you might be able to convince itunes to allow you to download all your purchases again, you'll have to submit an e-mail with your details, think you can do it from the itunes store section, under http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/

Although if all the songs were bought from itunes that are on your phone, I believe when you sync/restore it will ask you if you want to transfer them.

If you can't download them you can easily get access to your phone and manually copy them. Bit of an annoyance but it's an option.

Got the answer on another forum but thought id post the answer here in case anyone else comes up against it.

Oh and all my music is from itunes so no worries there.

All you do is, once the computer is registered, plug in the iphone, go to file>transfer purchases from iphone.

Then you'll have all our music back again.
