Itunes on Vista

I've just installed the latest version of Itunes on a clean Vista Ultimate 64bit install. Everything seems to be working fine for audio but video playback is very choppy.

I've tried enabling/disabling the DirectX acceleration for quicktime. My system is an A64 X2 4200 with 2GB RAM and an x850xt pe so its not a lack of power. Video plays fine in all other programs (WMP, Flash etc). I'm using the ATI 64bit drivers for RTM, not the ones that came with Vista.

It's not even high-def content or anything, just some video podcasts. Any ideas people?

iTunes wasn't written for Vista, and hasn't been updated for Vista. I'd imagine it's not really high on Apple's list of priorities either.

Sound is onboard for a Gigabyte K8NMF-9 (nForce 4x based m-atx board). However the sound plays fine, even when the video itself is chopping.

Playback in quicktime is also very choppy, with long pauses, corruption and skips. In both cases the audio is unaffected and continues to be clear and precise.
