Hi all,

I want to be able to back up itunes before I format my w7 machine and install a fresh install of W8.

I have tried this before when I updated a pc and it sort of worked.

However my iphone 3gs is dead (wont charge, home button and microphone broke)
So the back up on my pc I cannot loose as my phone may be unfixable.

Any guide on how to back up itunes (music not important i have this elsewhere) but everything else to do with the iphone!

Thanks all,

Davey

I usually just copy the iTunes folders in the My Music folder, install iTunes on the new comp and then just copy and paste that folder in there. All my iPhone and iPad backups as well as all my apps then show up on iTunes.

Just copy the iTunes folder in my music and copy it back one you've done the install of windows 8.

Also you should de-authorise the computer before doing that fresh install of windows 8.

Thanks all,

I did a combination of the above, including the app data part.
As it is i managed to extract my contacts/ notes from my iphone back up first and that was the main thing.

Will only look into restoring my back ups and installing itunes if i get my iphone fixed.

Someone mentioned de authorising account thats the mistake i didnt do last time!

Also I disabled I cloud, prefer having my own data, though saying that skydrive has somehow got some of my photos, impressive as i have none on this pc and have not used it (that im aware of!)
