Hi all,

This first started occurring a few months ago, albeit intermittently, it actually went away in the end as I stopped noticing it happening. I'd open iTunes, the process would start but iTunes wouldn't open, I'd need to kill the process and start again, or reboot and this normally fixed things.

I had terrible problems yesterday with it and a reboot, restarting the process etc wouldn't even fix it. Eventually it started working (took about 5 mins to actually start, I'd walked away and it had opened on my return)

I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows 8 on my machine so was hoping this would fix things but I've just installed iTunes and same issue occurring?!

Any ideas?

Hmm, 5 minutes later and iTunes has opened?

Why the massive delay...it's exactly what happened yesterday on Windows 7.

The short answer is iTunes is complete garbage. I don't even think it's officially supported on Windows 8 so just be thankful it's working at all :p

You could inspect the iTunes process with Process Monitor to see what it's stalling on, if you think it's worth the effort.

I had a similar issue with Itunes a while back after an update. Uninstalled it, downloaded latest installed and reinstalled and it was fine after that.

I've had a few issues where I'd start iTunes and it would stop responding part way through stating and I'd have to kill the process through task manager.

As for the rest of your problems, I would be thinking that the problem is with the computer and not the program since I've never had a 5 minute load time on iTunes and on windows 8 it only took around twenty to thirty seconds to fully load.
