Itunes purchases help please...

A colleague has lost all his itunes installation and files on his laptop.
Most are purchases done in itunes and he still has all the items on the ipod - not sure at this stage what type it is.

How can we get everything back and syncing OK?
Will purchases be available on a new install of itunes if he logs in with his account? It's mostly music I think.

I also believe there is a way one way or another of recovering items from an ipod without syncing?

Anyone help with this?

Thanks. Hoping to get laptop and ipod on Friday to look at it.

Maybe plug iPod into laptop/itunes. Right click on iPod, transfer purchases, then authorise the computer?

Download an app called Senuti (iTunes backwards =]) This should let you go into the iPod and get all of the mp3s out of it.

There is also Touch Copy 09 for iPod touches and iPhone explorer which may work, as I used it on my iPad....

All worth a try imo =]
 
I actually emailed itunes support and explained I had lost all my purchases, they then let me download them all again. I think in 10.4 that became an option for US customers in a menu but as I'm in the UK I had to ask nicely. Although that was more effort than the above options.
