quick question.

I have some songs on my iPod that I bought from the iStore.

Also, I have reformatted my PC's hard drives and did a re-install (BTW I do this often when too much junk on the comp). Because of this Apple DRM I can't copy files from my iPod to my PC, I went to iStores to see if I could redownload the songs I purchased but didn't see any options to do so, yet they have the songs listed in my account purchase history.

Am I screwed? coz if I add songs to my iPod I will basically erase the stuff I bought that is on my iPod.

Anyone have any ideas how I could retrieve the songs off my iPod

I have to say I am really begining to hate all this Apple nonesense. Pirates have no issues, yet idiots like me who paid get screwed.

what type of ipod is it? if its 1 of the older types, you can access the data on it. the new ipod touch's however, you cannot.

plus btw, apple doesnt allow a person to re-download for free....

thx you are a lifesaver

it's a first gen 4gb Nano (the one that was easily scratched :()- how can I retrive the files?

PS I think it's a scam that they won't let me redownload the songs since it is on iTunes with the same iPod linked to it. Never buying from iStore again - live and learn.. Sad to say but I hate Apple nowadays, yet was their biggest fan in the 80s

you can get to them but they're all given funny names in the folder dont wory itunes will sort it out, ive done it before, all yo do it find the ipod in

Start<Computer<ipod

tell it to show hidden files and find the folder labeled music, copy the whole file and put it where you want it, thn import it to itunes which should then recognise the songs and givethem their proper names

EDIT ^beaten to it that guides probably better as its in more detail

Winamp with the mlipod.dll plugin allows you to download the music (including tags) to your computer!.. be warned they come down as .m4a files not .mp3
