I have a D-Link DNS-323 NAS which I also use as an iTunes server. I'm not sure whether I have set it up properly because it doesn't work the way I expect it to. I use one PC to sync my two iPods a Classic 80GB and a Touch 8Gb.
Eveything syncs OK on PC1, but podcast status does not update on PC2, so if I listen to a podcast on the iPod then sync it with PC1, it still looks unplayed on PC2, is this the way it works or should I have a synced profile on all PCs because iTunes runs of a server?
I also want to be able to sync from PC2 occasionally, but it thinks it is a new library when I plug it in and wants to wipe the ipod and start again. I just want to be able to sync from any PC.
Also, now have a new headache in that I bought an Apple TV to download movies. So I thought I would get the 160Gb version and use it as an iTunes server, and move all my tunes, movies and podcasts to it and sync across the network from any PC. No, I can't believe it wants to connect to another PC's iTunes to sync. That means any movies I want to buy have to be downloaded to a PC which obviously must be switched on, then when iTunes feels like it, it will sync to the Apple TV, creating an unnecessary copy.
There must be an easier way to do all this, but I can't figure it out.Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
