Hi.
Question:
iTunes Server, running on ISA Proxy server, acting as a central store for podcasts and whatnot for staff, that they can access from their iTunes programs. Good idea or not?

I say no, you work for a reason. Imagin if ocuk staff had a itunes server and was listening to music while they were working. would much work be done? It depends what your staff are working as acctually.

I wrk in a college as a IT technician and if staff was to listen to music they would not get the work done (Tutors, other technicians e.t.c), but then again I have seen it increase work load because people sometimes work to the beat level.

What environment you talking about here that your in?

Its been requested by the science staff so that they can download science podcasts for the kids.

Ive got iTunes on the server and a test workstation, but they arnt seeing each other for some reason.
Port 3689 is open on the server

The new plan is to have one of the backroom computers in science as the iTunes server.

If thats the case and you think it could be a good idea to launch this suite for the kids then why not demo it first. Maybe get 5 kids to help demo it or something? That's once you get the server working. If its for educational use then it could be a good thing.

Its not for the kids usage. The staff want exclusive access to it, then they'll play the podcasts for the kids through the speakers.

Alright then, well its up to you in the end. Good luck whatever you choose!

Ive found a list of ports that iTunes uses, so im gonna open them in Windows Firewall on every system i want iTunes on. Im hoping that that will solve the problem of them not seeing each other.
