iTunes wont play files it already has done before

Bit of a wierd one this.

Added some songs to my library .mp3's. Played them fine, all of a sudden when I want to play them, I double click and nothing happens. Doesnt begin to play. If i go to the song before or after and skip foward of back tracks to try and play it, it just jumps over it and goes onto the next song. Once i've removed the file I cant add it back in.

Its currently no.1 in my recently added, so skips from 100 to track 2 if i go round in a loop. Just tried adding a few songs to bump it down and still wont play.

Audio files obtained using media converter, might have something to do with it perhaps?

Changed the extension to .m4a and it plays in VLC media player fine

I'm clueless! it plays on my iPhone fine too!

Any suggestions would be great!

Tried Reinstalling itunes, and downloading a fresh version.

Got just over 1GB left on the partition with all my music.
Still no suggestions guys?

I had this once with a particular album, the exact same. One day it played it, next day it didn't. I re-ripped it and it was OK. Not sure if that helps.

Seemed to have solved it, ticked and unticked a few boxes here and there. Thanks for your reply anyway
