Hi,

I'm not sure what route to take here, i'm looking at downsizing my PC to a NZXT H1 when they become available and I currently have a 2600X which I'll need to move over to an ITX board. It currently lives in a B450 Pro Carbon ATX

It would be good if I could get a board that would support Ryzen 4000 too which I am aware this will now be happening for B450 but B550 is released next month and although I havent seen any ITX boards yet it would make more sense to buy B550 next month however I've also noticed that it looks like B550 wont support my current CPU unless thats changed recently.

Whats the best course of action here? Looks like I'm snookered into another B450 board but looking for confirmation really as I might have missed something as things are changing all the time?

Thanks

B450 will support 4000 series that image is outdated AMD have done a full U turn on that decision.

Anyway I think I'm going to wait until the 4000 series comes out now, that way there will be some more info on B550 ITX

The Asrock B550 Phantom ITX looks pretty good - no chipset fan + front-side M.2 with heatsink + front-panel usb-c connector. Many X570 users are willing to "downgrade" to it.

That does look nice. Now just need to know price and release date.

I'd not recommend B450 if you currently have 2nd gen and plan to move to 4th. AMD have said that there's a size limitation on the BIOS chip on B450 and so they will only open up the 4th gen BIOS to customers with 3rd gen CPUs. This is because they will have to remove support for some CPUs (i.e. 2nd gen) to enable 4th gen support. Therefore, it's quite possible that trying that upgrade with a second gen CPU might essentially brick your system.

There's a detailed post on AMD's reddit page.
