ITX Build for travelling

Someone today has told me the best way is to have solar power for the lighting and fridge and then get a suitcase generator for when I need big power for a PC. Wonder if you can get a diesel generator that is fed off the main tank? If so would be perfect and can then get an all singing and dancing threadripper setup

What would be the lowest power draw CPU and GPU if I wanted 8 core 16 thread and at least 8gb GPU vram? Would undervolting and therefore not overclocking the above lose me a lot of performance?

Ryzen is the obvious choice here, but are we still talking laptops. I’m not sure I know of a low power draw cpu + gpu in a Laptop that has 8gb of vram. I’m quite confused.

Undervolting generally reduces heat output and power draw, and doesn’t negatively impact performance to any noticeable degree. You may even find you have higher boost clocks, due to the reduced heat output. Before I even started over clocking my cpu, I got better, longer boosts because of the custom loop. Though of course, your mileage may vary.

That reminds me, I have to properly overclock my cpu, I just whacked it up to 4.7 temporarily and moved onto the gpu.

I think I'm going to go threadripper and get a suitcase generator. Seems to be the easiest choice .

I’m sure we’d all like to see the final result. Would be great if you could update us on how it goes, or start a Project Log.

Good luck man.

Going to be doing a custom case so it's in disguise. The idea I have, if anyone breaks in, they would never think that it's a PC lol

In fact I may do a few pics of the motorhome interior and see if anyone can spot it when it's done haha
