Having built my own system a couple of months ago I passed on my old set up (a Z77 and i5 3570 I *think*) to my 17yr old daughter so she could do her school work on it. It was - or had been - a great little system but was 8 years old. Anyway, it's now gone kaput.

I need a replacement ITX motherboard and CPU with integrated graphics (I'll probably need some memory and possibly a cheap SSD of some kind).

I have no idea what processor or mobo options I have as all my research earlier this year was distinctly higher end.

I don't mind Intel or AMD. Daughter only really plays Sims 4 so needs to handle that (but the old CPU was fine for that).

Budget - preferably within £200 for mobo, CPU and memory.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

For stuff that is new and appears to be all in stock, you can get an i3 8100 4 core, Asrock H310M-Itx/ac Mini Itx & 2*4GB Vengeance LPX @ 3000 (you can get cheaper RAM, but there is less than a tenner difference for the basic 2400 speed stuff (Crucial Ballistix @ 2400) for about £213.55 (£206.16 with the Ballistix RAM) at present or for £185.89 you can get the same MB & RAM with with a pentium gold G5420 (2 core/4 thread) or £177.62 with the G5400 pentium.

You can get a Ryzen 3 3200G, MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC & the same Vengeance LPX for £232.23 at the minute also if you wished. The problem with the AMD build is that the MB tend to cost more than the cheapo Intel ITX boards new. It would be worth looking on an auction site for a possible bargain if you wanted to go this and save some more money. It looks like you can probably save £20-30 on the price of an AM4 ITX motherboard along (and probably a few quid on the CPU, although it doesn't look like you would likely save much more than £10 from a quick look compared to new).

If she really doesn't need that much though, just have a look at some 2nd hand mobo/cpu's on your favourite auction site as you may be able to pick up a bargain (or not). For the RAM, personally I'd just pick it up new as it is cheap enough for some low speed DDR4 2*4GB sticks to be honest (£33 for the ballistix kit at present) unless you can find some that is super cheap.
