I've found the ideal mobo for the ITX build that I'm researching at the moment - ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe - But it only takes laptop sized RAM, will this create any issues performance wise? Or should I just go for an i5 instead to avoid this compromise?

Cheers!

Performance shouldn't make a difference. Only difference is the hole in your wallet caused by having to buy SODIMMs instead of DIMMs

Any reason why do you prefer this board over other mini ITX boards ?

Shouldn't be a problem, you'll just pay a little more and won't be as many different brands but you should be able to get crucial/kingston that will do the job and shouldn't have any performance issues.

The main reason for me preferring this board to others is the built in Wifi and the AM3 support, I've got an ASUS monitor and will probably get an ASUS GPU just to get almost everything matching.
